Do you really want to build your own hdtv antenna?

Do you want this on your roof?

When you build a hdtv antenna as my neighbor did with the specs and directions used above that he came across on the internet.
There are several things he didn't realize...
First. I must admit..it did do the job...sort of. He was getting about 5 of the 11 channels available in our area with a signal strength hanging around 70% to 75%.
He did have numerous drop outs at times which (beleive me) lead to aggrevation when watching sports over at his house!
The next thing he realized was that it doesn't last long out in the elements!
After just 2 weeks it seemed like the hdtv antenna build project on his roof began to melt!
My neighbor Ralph is a great guy but I had to laugh my butt off when I would come home and see a "melting" hdtv antenna on his roof...the aluminum foil was peeling off and the 2x4 piece of wood he used was already looking like it would rot out very soon.
Remember the beginning of the "Beverly Hillbillys" where Jed is sitting on the front porch of his cabin?...Well, Ralphs "build hdtv antenna" project made his house look like the Clampetts shack. We're good friends, I can say that! LOL!
As of right now Ralphs build a hdtv antenna project has already been taken apart and pitched except for the 2x4 lumber...keeping it for another project!
I turned him on to the DB4 hdtv antenna I have on my roof now but actually I told him to wait until the "Clearstream 2" antenna is available!
I wish I would have taken pics of his hdtv antenna build project but he already had it down off his roof! When Ralph gets his Clearstream set up I will take pictures of it on his roof and post them here!
