HDTV Reception In Chicago With Right Antenna

The Chicago TV market is the third largest in the US: it covers roughly 30,000 square miles of territory in Eastern Illinois, Northern Indiana and Southeastern Wisconsin.  Some viewers in Western Michigan can also see the Chicago signals with a deep-fringe antenna system. The Chicago transmitters are located on the Sears Tower and the John Hancock buildings downtown.

Although Chicago DTV antenna reception can be a challenge amidst the skyscrapers of downtown, reception in the suburbs, with it's gently rolling hills, is usually quite good. The June 12, 2009 conversion to digital broadcasting has yielded a mixture of VHF and UHF stations: WLS, remains on channel 7, and WBBM, previously on channel 2, has moved to channel 12. The other digital stations are now on UHF. The various Spanish stations have traditionally been on UHF channels, and most have changed channels.
