Antenna Reception In San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles

The Los Angeles TV market is the second largest in the US: it covers roughly 40,000 square miles of territory in Southern California from just north of San Diego to Bakersfield, and East to almost Palm Springs. The Los Angeles transmitters are located primarily on Mt. Wilson, and that high transmitting point makes TV reception in Los Angeles fairly easy for most people. Viewers in the San Fernando Valley are often blocked from direct view of Mt. Wilson, and may have to take extra measures to insure good over-the-air digital reception in the San Fernando Valley area. The June 12, 2009 conversion to digital broadcasting has yielded a mixture of VHF and UHF stations: KABC, KCAL, KTTV and KCOP have returned to their original analog channels, while KCBS, KNBC, and KTLA have moved their signals to UHF. The various Spanish stations have traditionally been on UHF channels, and some have changed channels, others have stayed in their analog channel positions.

Due to local stations occasionally updating or changing their frequencies we have found it's best to call our professional antenna techs to determine what antenna best fits your needs. 1-866-621-6269

Antenna Reception In Los Angeles

Previously, the Los Angeles TV reception area was primarily a VHF market, and many people have found that some or all of their usual stations have relocated or disappeared.

Prior to June, 12, all of the Los Angeles digital stations were broadcasting on UHF, and many people bought UHF antennas, thinking that their reception problems had been solved. After June 12, those people found that they lost ABC, FOX, KCAL and MyTV. The installation of a simple VHF high-band antenna and coupler will usually solve that problem.

Choosing Best HDTV Antenna For Los Angeles

Those viewers who live within 30 miles of Mt. Wilson, and have no major obstructions between their location and the transmitters, should consider a high quality VHF-high-band plus UHF antenna like a Winegard HD-7694P . Viewers may have issues with TV reception in the San Fernando Valley
