Washington DC
Due to local stations occasionally updating or changing their frequencies we have found it's best to call our professional antenna techs to determine what antenna best fits your needs. 1-866-621-6269
The Washington DC television market is the ninth largest in the US: it covers roughly 25,000 square miles of territory in central and Northern Virginia, Eastern and Southern Maryland and parts of the DelMarVa penninsula. The June 12, 2009 conversion to digital broadcasting has yielded a mixture of VHF and UHF stations: WJLA (ABC) is on channel 7, and WUSA (CBS), is now on channel 9: the other digital stations are now on UHF. The various Spanish stations have traditionally been on UHF channels, and most have changed channels. Many Washington, DC viewers can also receive the Baltimore TV stations if hey have a directional antenna and a rotator to aim at the Baltimore transmitters. Because of regulations in Washington DC, the TV transmitting towers are shorter than they are in other cities, as regulations prohibit structures taller than the Washington Monument. This makes Washington DC reception tougher to get in the fringe areas.
Previously, the Washington DC area was mix of VHF and UHF analog stations, so many viewers have already installed antennas capable of receiving both TV bands, but many people have found that the changes in channels among the local TV stations have confused them. Everyone who is having problems with the new digital channels is suggested to rescan their digital tuners and converter boxes to find the new channels.
