Before I bought my ota HDTV antenna I did a lot of research on the internet like I stated on my home page.

Below are some facts I think you'll all find interesting!!!
Did you know that if you opt to receive your local HD channels through your Dish or cable company like Directv or Dish Network rather than a ota hdtv antenna your not only paying on average $10-$15/month more... you are loosing quality of your picture! When digital signals are sent to your TV via your Dish or cable company they are in a "compressed" state. The reason being is that a "true" HD signal in it's purest form has too large a bandwidth for cable or satellite companies to handle. So "they" compress the signal to accomodate all the other channels they offer you through their service! To make things worse, everytime your provider adds channels to your service in the future, they will have to compress your local digital signals a little everytime!!! So the problem just gets worse! I don't know about you but owning your own ota hdtv antenna is a must now days!
At first I was told I couldn't have an ota hdtv antenna on my roof!
Does your subdivision rules state that you cant have a ota hdtv antenna on your roof? Shove this in their face! In 1996, the FCC affirmed the right of "you" the homeowner to place an antenna on your property you own or control!... Here's what you do!
Go to http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html. and print it out and take it to your next homeowners association meeting! If you live in a condo or apartment, you also have the right! Thank me later!
February 17, 2009: A government mandate requires that all full-power TV stations stop broadcasting analog signals and switch to 100% digital broadcasting by THIS DATE!!! This transition will primarily affect nearly 15-20 million TV viewers who rely on local over-the-air broadcasts received via antenna.
This means you will need to buy a converter box and keep your old set or finally move up to an hdtv! If you use a satellite or cable company you will be ok. They will provide you when the change comes...BUT remember what I stated near the top of this page! Do you want a "compressed signal" picture of your local HD stations and on top that pay more for them!!!
